Directory Submission

Directory submission is nothing but a submission to a site which is categorized into different categories and sub-categories.

Let's have some basics on directories and an understanding on in-depth process of directory submission.

1) What are directories?
Directories are also sites like other normal sites, but it is without or very less content. It is a collection of sites wherein listed sites are segregated according to the category & sub-category to which it belongs.

2) Directory categories & sub-categories understanding:
Each directory has pre-defined categories and sub-categories on its web pages. Whenever some new site is submitted to a directory it is put into its respective category after editor approves that site.

3) Directory submission essentials:
a) Title of your site is needed.
b) Description of your site will be needed.
c) URL (home page) of your site will be needed.
d) Name (You name/ Webmaster) is needed.
e) Valid email-id is needed.
f) Few directories require reciprocal link url.

4) Directory submission process:
When a person visits a directory, initially he/she will come to the home page of that directory. This home page will consist of categories as shown in the below sample.

Once you see a list of categories, select the most relevant category to you site's theme. This will be you site's main category. After selecting the main category, you will come across many other sub-categories that belong to that main category. So now select the sub-category to which your site is niche.

As soon as you select the sub-category either further down the hierarchy you will be further shown some other sub to sub-categories or you will be able to see the sites belonging to that sub-category.

Once its confirm that there is no scope to further drill down for sub-categories, look at the top or bottom of the page where you will be able to find "Add URL/ Submit URL/ Suggest URL" link on that page. Click on the "Add URL/ Submit URL/ Suggest URL" link and go to that page. This will be a form page. Here you need to submit you site's title, description, URL, Name & email-id. We need to start filling in these details. Once all the details are filled in click the submit button. As soon as you finish clicking the submit button you will be taken to a page which will say "Email has been send to verify you email-id" or "Your site is under review & will send you an email as soon as it gets approved".
